teiko photo's namesake comes from kristen's nana, teiko [take-o], whose photos from japan sparked an early love of photography.

each image in her collection felt like a piece of history you could hold. each photo held a trace of memory, feeling, presence, and allowed kristen to connect with her ancestral lineage. that sense of tangibility remains central to the approach.

working primarily with instant film and digital film simulation, teiko photo creates photographs that feel personal, imperfect, and lived in, like memory itself. whether capturing a quiet moment, a collaborative portrait, or something entirely unique, the aim is to make images that don’t just tell a story but become part of it.

teiko photo is currently working out of the greater seattle area. our service can be a thoughtful addition to larger events, a way to capture more intimate, candid moments through a different lens, whether you have a primary photographer booked, are in the early planning stages, or just want to add something unique. it’s a slower, tactile way to complement the energy of the moment and preserve the quieter details that might otherwise be missed.
